SENATOR SALIU MUSTAPHA RESIGNS FROM APC, SAYS “MY PRINCIPLES, PURPOSE AND COMMITMENT TO THE PEOPLE REMAIN UNCHANGED”:

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District and the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, has formally announced his resignation as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, effective 14 August 2026.
In a resignation notice obtained from social media, the Senator said his decision followed careful consideration of recent developments within the APC in Kwara State, stressing that the decision was not taken lightly.
According to Senator Mustapha, his resignation came after weeks of extensive consultations and engagements with relevant stakeholders, his supporters, constituents across Kwara Central Senatorial District, and well-meaning Kwarans.
“POLITICS MUST BE ABOUT PEOPLE, PRINCIPLES AND PURPOSE”
Explaining his decision, the Senator said his political philosophy has always been anchored on the belief that politics should be about people, principles and purpose.
He stated that where the direction of a political platform no longer sufficiently aligns with those convictions and the aspirations of the people he represents, “the honourable thing to do is to chart a new course.”
APPRECIATES TINUBU-LED APC LEADERSHIP
Despite his resignation, Senator Mustapha expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APC, particularly the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the relationships and experiences he had gained over the years.
He said:
“To the leadership of the APC ably led by H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, I express my deepest gratitude for the relationships and experiences I have been afforded over the years.”

The Kwara Central Senator also assured his constituents, supporters, political associates and stakeholders across Kwara State and beyond that his decision to change political platform would not affect his commitment to public service.
He emphasised that while his political platform may change, his principles, purpose and commitment to the people remain unchanged.
“I remain steadfast in my service to the people of Kwara Central, Kwara State and Nigeria at large.”
Senator Mustapha concluded his notice by expressing appreciation to the people and stakeholders who have supported him throughout his political journey.
The resignation marks a significant political development in Kwara Central and Kwara State, coming amid evolving political realignments and consultations ahead of the next electoral cycle.
