A New Spiritual Leader Emerges:Emir of Ilorin Appoints Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki as 13th Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin Emirate;
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has approved the appointment of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as the new Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin Emirate, following the passage of the 12th Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Dr. Mohamed Bashir Solihu Imam Fulani Baboko.
The appointment was contained in an official statement signed by the Emir's Personal Assistant, Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala, and made available to the public on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki emerged successful after a rigorous selection process involving qualified Islamic scholars who aspired to occupy the revered religious position.
The newly appointed Chief Imam Fulani, aged 42, comes from a distinguished lineage of Islamic scholarship and leadership.
He is the grandson of the 8th Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin, Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka, and the son of the 10th Chief Imam Fulani, Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka.
Prior to his appointment, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki served as the Founder and Proprietor of Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies, Airport, Egbejila, Ilorin.
He also officiated daily and Jumu’ah prayers as Imam of Afsat Oloriegbe Memorial Mosque, Oko-Olowo, Ilorin, while actively contributing to Islamic enlightenment programmes, including presentations on the Al-Bisharah Islamic Foundation programme aired on Radio Kwara during Ramadan.
In addition, he lectures at Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin, where he continues to mentor students in Islamic knowledge and moral upbringing.
Academically, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Islamic Shari’ah from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, obtained in 2014. He also possesses a Diploma in Arabic Islamic Education from the Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Islamic Studies at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
While congratulating the new Chief Imam Fulani, the Emir of Ilorin prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him wisdom, sound health, long life, and divine guidance in the discharge of his spiritual responsibilities.
The Emir also prayed for sustained peace, unity, progress, and prosperity across the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim Ummah at large.
