Tinubu Approves Fresh Appointments into Key Federal Agencies, Strengthens Governance Across Strategic Institutions:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved a fresh round of appointments into several strategic Federal Government agencies and commissions, a move aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, improving public service delivery, and advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, cover key sectors including power, fiscal management, population administration, agriculture, education, housing, and energy, reflecting the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing efficiency across critical national institutions.
Among the notable appointments is the nomination of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). He will lead the board alongside newly appointed Non-Executive Directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, remains in office with the existing executive management team.
In another major development, Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.) has been appointed Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, with former federal lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas named Secretary of the commission. Several commissioners and board members from different geopolitical zones were also appointed to strengthen the commission’s operations.
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Tosin Johnson Adeyanju as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), while Dr. Abuh Mohammed emerged as the new Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC).
In the power sector, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), while Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin will head the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
For the agricultural sector, Engineer Julius Oloro has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, succeeding the late Dr. A.R. Kamal. The appointment is expected to strengthen agricultural mechanisation and support Nigeria’s food security agenda.
The President also reconstituted the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman alongside new board members to reinforce transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public finances.
Similarly, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, while Gisaor Vincent Iorja was named Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
The appointments demonstrate the Federal Government’s resolve to reposition strategic agencies with experienced administrators and professionals capable of driving national development priorities.
The latest appointments are expected to further strengthen institutional governance, improve service delivery, and accelerate the implementation of programmes designed to stimulate economic growth, infrastructure development, rural electrification, agricultural transformation, and improved public sector performance across Nigeria.
All appointments take immediate effect, with the newly appointed officials expected to assume their responsibilities in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions governing their respective agencies.
