Emir Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Presents Certificate of Office at Historic Palace Ceremony;

The Ilorin Emirate has officially installed Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani (Agaka Isale) as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate during a colourful turbanning ceremony held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the forecourt of the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin.

The historic event was presided over by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the 11th Emir of Ilorin, who formally presented the new Chief Imam with the Certificate of Office, signifying his official assumption of the revered religious position.

The ceremony attracted Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, dignitaries, and thousands of well-wishers from within and outside Kwara State, who gathered to witness the installation of the new spiritual leader of the Ilorin Emirate.

The appointment of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki marks another significant chapter in the rich religious and cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate, as he assumes the responsibility of providing spiritual guidance, promoting Islamic values, and fostering peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among the people.

The turbanning ceremony reflected the Emirate’s enduring tradition of preserving its religious institutions while ensuring continuity in leadership for the advancement of Islam and the development of the Ilorin community.

The occasion concluded with special prayers for the new Chief Imam, the Emir of Ilorin, the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the peace, unity, and progress of Nigeria.
