Kwara APC Governorship Race: Aggrieved Aspirants Reportedly Unite, Move to Present Consensus Candidate;

Fresh political developments have emerged within the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a group of governorship aspirants reportedly met to explore a united front following the party's governorship primary.

According to information obtained from social media sources by our medium, no fewer than 10 governorship aspirants convened a strategic meeting aimed at discussing the way forward after the primary election that produced Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi as the party's candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The meeting, reportedly held late Thursday at the office of the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, was said to have attracted several prominent APC stakeholders and governorship aspirants.

Among those reportedly present were Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Senator Saliu Mustapha, Dr. Muhideen Salako, Dr. Toyin Alabi, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, Hon. Ibrahim Bio, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, Dele Belgore (SAN), Tajudeen Audu and Prof. Suleiman Amana.

Also said to have attended the meeting were respected party leaders, including Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Biodun Ajiboye, Senator Makanjuola Ajadi, Senator Ahmed and Barrister Salman Jawando (SAN), among others.

Sources cited by the social media report claimed that discussions focused on fostering unity among the aggrieved aspirants and exploring the possibility of presenting a consensus candidate to the national leadership of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for consideration.

The report further alleged that the stakeholders are seeking a level playing field and are consulting widely in an effort to strengthen internal cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

The development comes amid continued discussions surrounding the outcome of the APC governorship primary, which was conducted by a committee led by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and produced Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi as the party's flagbearer.
