OTOGE RELOADED: G15 Reaffirms Commitment to Internal Democracy, Vows to Sustain Advocacy for Inclusive APC in Kwara;

The Kwara APC G15 Movement has renewed its commitment to promoting internal democracy, fairness, inclusiveness and grassroots participation within the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that it remains resolute in its campaign for what it describes as a more transparent and participatory political process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement jointly endorsed by leading members of the coalition, the group expressed profound appreciation to party faithful, supporters and stakeholders across the sixteen local government areas of Kwara State for their steadfast loyalty and continued confidence in the movement’s ideals.

According to the coalition, the overwhelming support received from members has reinforced its determination to continue advocating for justice, equity and collective leadership within the ruling party.

The group alleged that some of its members had recently been subjected to different forms of pressure, including intimidation, political blackmail and attempts to lure them away from the movement through appointments and other incentives. Despite these claims, the coalition commended its members for remaining committed to what it described as the collective aspirations of genuine party faithful.

The statement noted that such challenges were not unexpected in any political movement seeking institutional reforms, maintaining that the experiences had only strengthened the resolve of its members to pursue their objectives through peaceful and democratic means.

Reiterating its philosophy, the G15 maintained that its struggle is anchored on consultation, inclusiveness, respect for party members, justice and transparent leadership selection, insisting that political leadership should emerge through credible democratic processes that reflect the genuine wishes of the majority of party members.

The coalition further argued that sustainable political development can only thrive where every stakeholder is given equal opportunity to participate in decision-making without exclusion or undue influence.

While expressing dissatisfaction with what it described as attempts to impose political decisions within the party, the movement assured members that it would continue to explore constitutional and democratic avenues to ensure that the voices of grassroots members remain relevant in shaping the future of the APC in Kwara State.

Drawing inspiration from the historic Otoge political movement that reshaped Kwara’s political landscape in 2019, the coalition stated that the ideals of accountability, justice, fairness and people-oriented leadership which inspired that movement remain relevant today.

According to the statement, although political circumstances may have evolved, the vision behind the Otoge movement continues to resonate among many party members who desire greater inclusiveness and stronger internal democracy.

The G15 also urged its supporters across wards, local government areas and senatorial districts to remain peaceful, law-abiding and united while intensifying grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the movement’s organisational structures ahead of future political engagements.

The coalition expressed optimism that sustained dialogue, unity of purpose and constructive political engagement would ultimately contribute to building a stronger, more inclusive and democratically vibrant APC in Kwara State.

The statement was jointly signed by prominent members of the movement, including Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, Mr. Dele Belgore (SAN), Senator Yisa Oyelola Ashiru, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, Senator Saliu Mustapha, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, Dr. Muhyideen AbdulAzeez Salako, Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu Makama, Hon. Mohammed Bio Umar, Captain Ahmad Mahmud, Hon. Dr. Ahmed Yinka Aluko, and Hon. Ismaheel Kayode Tijani, among other stakeholders.

The renewed declaration is expected to further shape political conversations within the Kwara APC as consultations and realignments continue ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
