Offa Town Hall: Kwara South APC Elders Back Tinubu’s Second Term, Rally Support for Sadiq Umar as Next Governor

The stakeholders and elders of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara South Senatorial District have declared strong support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and endorsed Sadiq Suleiman Umar as the preferred candidate for the 2027 Kwara State governorship.

The endorsement was made during a well-attended Town Hall Engagement organized by the Kwara South APC Elders Forum at ODU Hall in Offa, signaling a significant political alignment ahead of the next election cycle.

Chairman of the Forum, James Bamishaiye, stated that leaders and stakeholders across the Ibolo, Igbomina, and Ekiti blocs within Kwara South have collectively agreed to support a power shift to Kwara North in the interest of fairness and unity.

He noted that the gathering was not merely a political endorsement but a reaffirmation of commitment to justice, equity, and inclusive governance, stressing that Kwara North has not had the opportunity to produce a governor for nearly three decades.

Clean and Klear Media Affairs gathered that the Forum had earlier reached a similar position in 2024, following consultations and endorsements by traditional rulers in Ajase-Ipo, further strengthening the call for balance in the state’s political structure.

In separate remarks, Abiodun Afolayan urged constituents to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid while aligning with the call to consider Senator Sadiq Umar for governorship.

Also speaking, former Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulmumin Katibi, encouraged party members to actively participate in the APC primaries and support the Kwara North aspiration.
Similarly, former General Manager of Radio Kwara, Abdul-Lateef Adebowale Adedeji, advocated for the endorsement, describing it as a step toward fairness and inclusiveness.

Other stakeholders from across the three senatorial districts also expressed support for Senator Sadiq Umar, noting that his candidacy would help sustain and build on the developmental strides of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The event underscores growing momentum within the party as consultations and alignments intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
