Dangote Refinery Deploys 4000 CNG Trucks to Reduce Nigeria’s Fuel Distribution Costs

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has started receiving 4000 Compressed Natural Gas powered trucks for its nationwide fuel distribution programme set to begin on August 15.

According to the company, the trucks were imported through Apapa Port and are part of a N720 billion investment aimed at cutting fuel transportation costs and improving supply efficiency across Nigeria.

The first batch of trucks arrived at the refinery’s Ibeju Lekki facility and was received by Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited.

Group Chief of Branding and Communication, Anthony Chiejina, said the CNG-powered fleet will enhance operations, reduce transportation bottlenecks, and improve fuel availability across the country.

Over the next six weeks, at least 60 shiploads of CNG trucks are expected to arrive at the refinery. The initiative is projected to save Nigerians over N1.7 trillion annually in logistics costs.

The trucks are expected to benefit more than 42 million small and medium-sized businesses, create over 15000 direct jobs, revive dormant filling stations, curb fuel smuggling, and promote cleaner energy use in transportation.
