Kwara North: Senator Sadiq Extends Relief, Livelihood Support to Woro Kidnap Survivors;
Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting communities affected by insecurity with a fresh humanitarian intervention for victims of kidnapping in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The intervention, according to a statement from the Senator’s Media Team, followed his recent visit to members of the Woro community who were released after being held by kidnappers. The Senator presented a range of relief and livelihood-support items valued at millions of naira to assist the affected individuals and their families in rebuilding their lives.
The materials distributed included cash assistance, a tractor, tricycles, fertilisers, knapsack sprayers, food items, wrappers, herbicides and pesticides, among other forms of support aimed at restoring household income and agricultural activities.
The latest gesture is part of Senator Sadiq’s continued response to the plight of constituents affected by insecurity. The Senator had earlier visited some of the victims while they were receiving medical attention at a hospital in Ilorin shortly after regaining their freedom.
During that visit, he expressed solidarity with the victims, their families and the wider Woro community, while assuring them that their welfare would remain a priority.
The subsequent intervention in Woro, the statement explained, was designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to support the returnees and their families as they work towards economic recovery and a return to normal community life.
Senator Sadiq emphasised the importance of restoring hope, dignity and sustainable livelihoods for people whose lives and economic activities have been disrupted by insecurity.
He also reiterated his commitment to the wellbeing of constituents across Kwara North, particularly communities facing difficult circumstances, while stressing the need for collective efforts towards peace, security and sustainable development.
The Senator assured the people of Woro and other affected communities of his continued support, saying that interventions of this nature would remain part of his efforts to respond to the needs of constituents and strengthen their capacity to recover from challenging situations.
The development has further highlighted the role of community-focused interventions in complementing broader efforts to support victims of insecurity and rebuild livelihoods in affected areas.
