KWARA 2027: Kwara North Leaders Intensify Push for Governorship Slot in APC Zoning

Clean and Klear Media Affairs reports that information obtained from social media indicates a renewed call by elders, stakeholders, and governorship aspirants within the All Progressives Congress from Kwara North Senatorial District for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket to be zoned to the region.

The position was reportedly presented during a media engagement in Ilorin, where prominent voices from the district emphasized the need for equity, fairness, and political balance ahead of the next general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Isa Bio Ibrahim noted that the appeal became necessary following the release of the Independent National Electoral Commission timetable, which outlines the schedule for party primaries.

According to the stakeholders, since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, leadership at the state level has largely rotated between Kwara Central and Kwara South, while Kwara North is yet to produce a governor—an imbalance they say requires urgent redress to sustain harmony and inclusiveness.

Clean and Klear Media Affairs gathered that the group stressed the importance of maintaining the state’s tripod political structure by ensuring that all three senatorial districts are given equal opportunity to lead.

The stakeholders also highlighted that Kwara North is not lacking in capable leaders, mentioning notable figures such as Sadiq Suleiman Umar, Tajudeen Audu, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, and Mohammed Omar Bio as individuals with the experience and capacity to govern effectively.

Furthermore, the group appealed to political stakeholders in Kwara Central and Kwara South to support the zoning call in the spirit of unity and collective development.
In response to concerns about possible divisions among aspirants from the district, Salihu Yakubu Danladi reportedly assured that leaders from Kwara North remain united and committed to achieving a common goal.

The stakeholders expressed confidence that zoning the governorship ticket to Kwara North would not only promote fairness but also strengthen political stability and sustainable development across Kwara State.
