Star or Suspect? FAAN Probes K1 De Ultimate Over Airport Security Saga

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has opened an investigation into an alleged security breach involving Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal—popularly known as K1 De Ultimate—at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In a statement released Wednesday, FAAN confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, August 5, 2025, during boarding for a ValueJet flight (VK 201) to Lagos.
According to FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, preliminary findings revealed that K1 attempted to board the aircraft with a flask containing an unidentified liquid—despite multiple warnings from aviation security personnel and the flight captain.
The liquid, later identified as alcohol, exceeded the 100ml limit set by Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme and ICAO Annex 17, which regulates carriage of liquids on flights. These rules prohibit such items unless medically necessary and properly declared.
“Despite being informed of this regulation, the passenger reportedly declined to comply,” the statement said.
Tensions escalated when the artist refused to step aside for further checks and allegedly spilled the contents of the flask on an airline security officer. The flight captain, who tried to intervene, also faced resistance.
FAAN has strongly condemned the disruption and emphasized its commitment to passenger and crew safety. “The Authority will not tolerate any action that compromises operational integrity or aviation security standards, regardless of status,” it said.
The agency assured the public that the matter is under thorough investigation and that anyone found culpable will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
