Kwara Governor Inspects Oluremi Tinubu Hospital, Approves N20bn Education Fund, Showcases Roads Across State

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-focused development, inspecting the ongoing multistorey Oluremi Tinubu Hospital in Ilorin and approving an additional ₦20 billion for public school infrastructure across the state.

The inspection, which took place on Sunday, comes just days after the Governor toured several rural road projects in Asa Local Government Area. These include the 23.23km Oko Olowo Express–Sokoto–Tafatafa–Elere–Owode Oja Baba Kudu–Akopari–Otte Oja road and the 17.7km Madi Peeke road.

Speaking to reporters at the hospital site, Governor AbdulRazaq described the project as part of a broader investment drive in health, education, roads, and social infrastructure. He revealed that advanced medical equipment, including MRI, CT scan, PET scan, and radiography machines, have already been ordered, with completion targeted for the second quarter of 2026.

“This world-class hospital is progressing rapidly since the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, laid its foundation six months ago. It’s one of many projects designed to improve healthcare delivery in Kwara,” he said.

The Governor also highlighted other ongoing projects, such as the International Conference Centre, ICT Centre in Shonga, Patigi Regatta Motel, Shea Butter Factory in Kaiama, and major road works in Offa, Kwara South, and tourist routes like Owu Waterfall.

AbdulRazaq credited the surge in infrastructure development to increased federal allocations following the removal of fuel subsidy, praising President Bola Tinubu for supporting state-level growth.

“Roads are the most visible projects, but we’re equally investing heavily in education and agriculture. Education, in particular, requires long-term commitment, which is why we’ve approved an extra ₦20bn to upgrade public school facilities statewide,” he noted.

The Governor added that Kwara is part of a wider national trend of improved subnational healthcare infrastructure, citing similar hospital projects in Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina, and other states.

With dozens of projects underway simultaneously, AbdulRazaq assured that his administration would continue to deepen investments across all sectors, ensuring sustainable growth for every region of Kwara State.
