Tinubu Mourns Ghanaian Ministers Killed in Tragic Helicopter Crash

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash in Ghana that claimed the lives of two senior cabinet ministers and six others.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, President Tinubu conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Ghana’s President John Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana.

The helicopter accident led to the deaths of Ghana’s Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed. The two were reportedly on official duty when the incident occurred, along with six others whose identities were yet to be fully disclosed at press time.

President Tinubu described the loss as a “profound national tragedy” and commiserated with the bereaved families, urging them to find comfort in the fact that the deceased died in active and patriotic service to their nation.

According to the statement, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extends his deepest condolences to President John Mahama, the government and people of Ghana following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others.”

Tinubu further assured President Mahama and the entire Ghanaian nation that Nigeria stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.

“President Tinubu assures President Mahama and all Ghanaians that the thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria are with them during this time of profound national loss,” the statement added.

The crash has sparked widespread mourning across West Africa, with tributes pouring in for the deceased, who were recognized for their service and dedication to national development.

As investigations continue into the cause of the crash, leaders across the continent have joined in expressing their condolences and support to Ghana in this moment of grief.
