Asa LG Chairman Presents ₦9.6bn 2026 Budget to Legislative Council
The Executive Chairman of Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Shehu Amasa Yahaya, has presented a ₦9.6 billion proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the Asa Local Government Legislative Council. The budget presentation, which took place at the council chambers, outlined the administration’s fiscal plans for the coming year, with emphasis on consolidating existing projects, improving service delivery, and advancing grassroots development across the local government area.
Speaking during the presentation, Chairman Yahaya said the proposed budget was structured to ensure prudent management of available resources while addressing priority needs of communities within Asa Local Government. He noted that the appropriation framework seeks to strengthen governance, enhance welfare, and sustain development initiatives at the local level.
The chairman also acknowledged the role of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, crediting his administration with providing policy direction and institutional support for effective local government operations in the state. In addition, Yahaya commended members of the Asa Local Government Legislative Council, led by Hon. Muyideen Bello, for their cooperation and oversight functions. He further appreciated political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and residents of the local government for their continued support of his administration.
The chairman urged the legislative council to consider the budget proposal promptly, stressing that timely approval would enable the council to implement its development programmes without delay in the 2026 fiscal year. The presentation of the ₦9.6 billion budget marks a key step in the local government’s budgetary process ahead of the next financial year.
