APC Elders Caucus Backs Sadiq Umar as Consensus Guber Candidate for 2027:

The Elder Caucus of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has endorsed the aspiration of Sadiq Suleiman Umar to emerge as the party’s governorship candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The caucus recommended the Kwara North lawmaker as the consensus flag-bearer from the region, following consultations and assessments of aspirants.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the State APC Elders Caucus Chairman, Chief James Bamisaiye Ayeni, stated that Senator Umar possesses the leadership qualities required to steer the state forward.

He urged other aspirants from Kwara North to align with the decision in the spirit of unity and collective interest, noting that the endorsement is consistent with the caucus’ position that the governorship seat should rotate to Kwara North.

Ayeni highlighted the aspirant’s track record, describing his experience across public and private sectors as a key factor that sets him apart in the race.
He further emphasized that after engaging with all aspirants from the district, the caucus concluded that Senator Umar demonstrated superior qualities in humility, inclusiveness, competence, and capacity to deliver on governance.

The caucus therefore recommended him to the party leadership at both state and national levels for consideration as the consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Notable stakeholders present at the briefing included Ahmed Mohammed, retired General Bolakale Agbabiaka, Barrister Salman Ayinla Jawando, former commissioner Abdulmumin Katibi, and retired Permanent Secretary Samuel Ayobola, among others.
