Kwara Senator Mustapha Refutes Claims of Defecting from APC
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has firmly denied recent rumors suggesting his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmaker, who is known for his steadfast commitment to the party’s ideals, described the reports as baseless and aimed at creating unnecessary political tension.
In a statement released on Sunday, Mustapha reiterated his unwavering allegiance to the APC and reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of Kwara Central under the party’s platform. He emphasized that his political journey remains aligned with the principles and policies of the APC, which he believes are critical for the progress and development of the nation.
“I remain a loyal and committed member of the All Progressives Congress. The rumors making the rounds about my defection are entirely false and fabricated by those who seek to distract us from the task of delivering good governance to our people,” the senator stated.
Senator Mustapha also called on his supporters and party members to disregard the speculation, which he described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and cause disunity within the APC in Kwara State.
He went further to urge the media and political commentators to verify information before disseminating it, as such unfounded claims could undermine the credibility of public discourse and breed unnecessary political distractions.
The senator reaffirmed his focus on delivering on his campaign promises, which include quality representation, youth empowerment, improved education, and infrastructural development for his constituency.
“As your senator, my priority remains working for the progress and development of Kwara Central and ensuring that the voice of our people is heard at the national level. I will not be swayed by baseless rumors but will remain focused on fulfilling the mandate entrusted to me by my constituents,” he added.
This clarification comes amidst heightened political activities and speculations in the state, as political players strategize ahead of the next general elections.
Senator Mustapha’s reassurance is expected to bolster unity within the APC in Kwara State and solidify his position as a key figure in the party’s efforts to maintain its influence in the region.
