Only Two Things Can Stop Tinubu in 2027 – Former Borno Governor Ali Modu Sheriff
Former Borno State Governor and influential political figure, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has expressed strong confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of winning the 2027 presidential election — stating that only two circumstances could derail the president’s re-election bid.
Sheriff made the declaration during an interview on Channels Television, where he provided an in-depth analysis of Nigeria’s current political climate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the former senator, President Tinubu remains the most formidable contender in the political arena. He dismissed emotional assumptions and public sentiments, emphasizing that successful political analysis requires a clear understanding of structures and ground realities.
“In politics, I don’t go to jamboree. Politics is a different ballgame. I look at reality,” Sheriff stated.
He further explained that in his view, the only obstacles that could stand in Tinubu’s path to re-election are either the absence of an election in 2027 or the president’s personal decision not to run.
“I can tell you for free, the only thing that will stop President Tinubu from winning the election in 2027 are only two factors. One, if there’s no election. Two, if he decides not to run,” he said confidently.
Sheriff also took a swipe at those he described as being driven by social media noise and unrealistic expectations. He stressed that real politics is built on strategies, structures, and insider understanding — not on wishful thinking or crowd reactions.
He said those who truly grasp how politics works do not rely on popular opinion but rather focus on the mechanics and logic that determine outcomes in the political landscape.
As conversations around the 2027 elections continue to gain momentum, Sheriff’s remarks add a strategic layer to the ongoing political discourse, especially among observers looking to forecast the next power dynamics in Nigeria.
