Kwara APC Chieftain Declares ‘Ó Tó Gé’ Movement a Failure, Slams AbdulRazaq’s Projects
Ilorin, Kwara State – August 18, 2025 – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Iliyasu Moro, has declared that the famous Ó Tó Gé movement, which ended the dominance of the Saraki dynasty in 2019, has failed to meet the expectations of the people.
Speaking during a radio interview in Ilorin, Alh iliasu Moro criticized the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, accusing him of wasting public funds on projects that bring little or no real value to the state.
‘Wasteful and Deceptive Governance’
According to the APC stalwart, many of the current government’s projects are either cosmetic or outright fraudulent. He pointed to the resurfacing of roads — described as “mere scraping and repainting” — as a poor substitute for genuine infrastructure development.
Alh Iliasu Moro also condemned the Kwara Hotel remodeling project, which has reportedly gulped over ₦18 billion, describing it as “extravagant and unnecessary” at a time when citizens are demanding real change.
“Our people voted for transformation, not deception. Kwara deserves better than wasteful spending masked as progress,” Alh Iliasu said.
Call for APC to Rebuild Trust
The party chieftain urged the APC leadership in Kwara to admit its shortcomings and urgently work towards regaining public trust ahead of future elections.
He stressed that the hopes of thousands of citizens who rallied behind the Ó Tó Gé movement in 2019 have been dashed, warning that the party risks losing credibility if it continues on the same path.
Background on Ó Tó Gé
The Ó Tó Gé (meaning
“Enough is Enough” in Yoruba) movement was the political revolution that swept through Kwara in 2019, ending decades of political dominance by the Saraki dynasty. It united various opposition forces and propelled AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to victory under the APC platform.
However, in the years that followed, cracks have emerged within the coalition, with several stakeholders lamenting poor governance, unfulfilled promises, and alleged sidelining of party loyalists.
