Kwara APC Crisis Deepens as Rival Rallies Loom Amid Fresh Reconciliation Moves:
Fresh developments have continued to shape the internal crisis within the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as renewed reconciliation efforts coincide with plans by opposing political blocs to stage separate rallies over the party’s post-primary disputes.
Information gathered by Clean and Klear Media Affairs indicates that the APC Reconciliation Committee, chaired by retired Col. Adedamola Lawal, is expected to embark on another round of consultations in Abuja with aggrieved stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to restore unity within the party.
Sources disclosed that the committee is expected to engage members of the group popularly referred to as the Kwara G10, National Assembly members, and other prominent Kwara political stakeholders occupying strategic positions at the federal level.
Among those reportedly expected to be consulted are the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, and Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Suleiman, alongside other influential party leaders.
The consultations are believed to be part of wider reconciliation efforts following disagreements that trailed the APC primary elections and concerns expressed by some stakeholders over the emergence of candidates for various elective offices.
Attention Shifts to Planned Rival Rallies
Political attention has also shifted to two separate rallies reportedly being planned by different interests within the party.
According to sources, one group of aggrieved stakeholders, including members associated with the G10 and some National Assembly figures, has been mobilising supporters for a rally intended to express concerns over the current direction of the party and seek the intervention of the APC national leadership.
On the other hand, supporters of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq are also preparing an APC Thank You Mega Rally, aimed at appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leadership of the party, and celebrating the outcome of the party’s primary elections.
However, reports indicate that the proposed rally by the aggrieved group may be rescheduled as consultations continue, with sources suggesting the decision is aimed at preventing any breakdown of law and order while reconciliation efforts remain ongoing.
Political observers believe the outcome of the Abuja engagements and the handling of the proposed rallies could significantly influence the APC’s internal cohesion as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
The reconciliation committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations to the APC national leadership after concluding its consultations with key stakeholders.
